We all Scream for Ice Cream

Hey everyone! This is Aurora and Jade writing. Well, today we started off with a snorkel at Four Sponges where we saw an eel (video from Jake included) and we also loved seeing all the beautiful abundance of fish at that spot. After our snorkel, we came back and kayaked around Anthony’s Key, which was really relaxing and a really nice change of pace; being above the surface of the water rather than below it. After we kayaked, we headed to the snack shack and had Miss Palmer’s favorite- ICE CREAM!! After we enjoyed our ice cream we headed over to lunch where we ate tuna wraps and Cuban sandwiches. We had some down time proceeding lunch, where we sat under our bungalows (and had a lot of fun-galow) before heading out on the boat once again. Our next snorkel was at a spot called “Pillar Coral” where we tried our hand at coral identification and had a competition to see who could identify 12 different corals correctly. Also, we saw an oooooh barra-barracuda! To follow, we had some journaling time until it was interrupted by a swarm of ants that decided they like the smell of fruit loops and the boys’ dirty laundry. We then had a small volleyball tournament, and our team came in 2nd place. Our last activity of the day was a night-time snorkel off the back of Bailey’s Key where we saw some squid, donkey dung sea cucumbers, a school of squirrel fish and multiple beady-eyed lobsters. To finish off the day, we sat down and had Red Snapper, Roasted Chicken and Pork Milanese for dinner, which was all delicious as usual.  The rest of the gang is playing cards while we summarize our busy day. Just an update on Sam- she went to la clinica today and the doctor found she has a ruptured ear drum, meaning she cannot snorkel the rest of the trip. L Even though she couldn’t snorkel today, Jo-Jo let her steer the boat home from Four Sponges.
Mom, Dad, Savannah, Brody and Liana; thanks for the comments, I love and miss you all so much. I was worried you all were partying and went to Red Robin’s without me. Savannah, I especially loved hearing so much of your personality through your comments. It also means a lot to me that you’re trying so hard. I can’t wait to sit my butt down on that new futon and catch up with you guys. Enjoy me being gone while it lasts because I’ll be home before you know it. Love, Rora
Mom and Dad- I miss you guys so much! Mom, I’m so glad you finally figured out how to comment because I was concerned that you were dead and the cats ate your dead body. Anyways, I hope the Walking Dead finale was good dad, and I can’t wait to watch it with you when I get home. Also please say hi to Babcia and Abbi for me, and also Tiger because I only miss her (not the other cats). Well I love you guys and I will see you on Saturday! Love, Jade

  2. Sam,

Enjoy the trip as best you can despite not being able to snorkel. But I'm pretty sure I can picture your face while steering a boat... And yes I hope you were playing "I'm on a boat" in your head while that was happening!

Glad everything is still going well. I'm still blowing up your phone for when you come home, and I love Herbie the hedgie. He is beyond cute.

    Much love,
    Marq

    1. Also I've tried multiple times to comment on other posts, but this is the first to show up. But basically to summarize the other posts -- I made a Don Paul reference and demanded that y'all bring sunshine back home with you.

      Enjoy your time :)

  4. Bekah, I'm heading home this afternoon so probably won't get a chance to get online again until you get back. You can make up comments for me for the rest of the week. Keep having fun! Although I can't wait to hear all about it, I know you wish you could stay for a lot longer...so make the most of it! Sam, I am so sorry about your ear; but you know there's more to Roatan than snorkeling. Just keep swimming (and steering the boat...scary thought). Everyone else, enjoy the rest of the week.

  7. Thanks Aurora and Jade for the great detailed update! I thought it was unique that you ate the ice cream FIRST and then had lunch, but it is a vacation so anything goes I'm sure!! :) The underwater selfie picture was great and I really enjoyed the picture of Aurora, Jenna, and Carly holding hands in the water. So beautiful... I'm glad you all survived Sam driving the boat back. Apparently none of you have ever ridden with Sam or you would have thought twice about letting her drive the boat...I think I would have opted to swim back to shore but whatever! (Love you Sam) :)
Enjoy your day! I can't wait to hear about your new adventures and the delicious food you will stuff yourselves with today. Sammi...I hope your ear is feeling better. Did the doctor say if your ears would be okay on the plane ride back? Just wondering... and being the usual overprotective and worried Mom. Have fun shopping! Love you bunches, The Gier's :)

  10. Sam...you will be happy to know I Googled flying with a perforated/ruptured ear drum and it actually said,
"When you have a perforated eardrum, the air pressure in your middle ear can balance out more easily with the pressure in the surrounding air, because the air is able to pass through the hole. This means that flying with a perforated eardrum may cause less discomfort than flying with eardrums that aren’t perforated."
So...I guess you are lucky to have the hole in your eardrum...right? Hmmm...I wonder if the AFLAC accident policy I recently took out on you covers this one (you silly accident prone girl). Love you bunches. Love Mom :)

  11. Good to hear from you again Aurora!! I was worried you were off having too much fun with the dolphins to reply back to me haha. Nah I'm just kidding with you, I know you're probably having the best time of your life right now and I am sooo jealous. I can't believe you guys got to see the dolphins again and you went night snorkeling. Nigh snorkeling!!! That's like totally awesome, it must have looked so cool! And the dolphin thing is just amazing I am beyond jealous. Is it bad that I wish I would've joined in the beginning of the year so I could come with you? Although I probably wouldn't have had enough time to raise enough money. Either way I am super glad that you got to go and I am so happy for you. I am praying for the rest of this week to go by quick so you can finally come home and show me all those dang pictures! I am also missing you like crazy and it has been beyond weird without you here. Believe it or not I am sitting on the couch right now at one o'clock in the afternoon drinking coffee because I couldn't fall asleep last night. It sounds messed up but I can only really fall asleep when you are right there 4 feet away from me. I miss you like crazy and I can't wait to see you and hear your voice again. I hope you all are still enjoying your awesome vacation, it only snowed once this week but I'll be knockin' on wood for that one. It's a little warmer here today but I'm sure it's gotta be at least 80 down there. Sam, that really sucks that you have a ruptured ear drum, but don't let that ruin your trip. There's still probably plenty of things that you can enjoy down there, keep smiling! I loved all of the pictures you guys took, it looks so awesome, especially the snorkeling ones! Have more fun you guys, I'll check back in tomorrow morning!!
    Love always,
    Savannah :)

  13. I love reading about your experiences and seeing the pictures and video clips. Beautiful. The library is closed for the rest of the week, but I'll sneak into Garry and Kathy's house (shh, don't tell!) so I can check on your next adventures. I'm waiting for Bekah's turn as the blogger! Love you, sweetie.

Capt. Sam--so sorry about your ear. Was relieved (and amused) at your mom's report that it shouldn't trouble you on the plane ride home.

  14. Another fun, fact filled blog...LOVE IT! As usual the pictures are all beautiful and I am completely jealous! What a great looking bunch as you stand there eating ice cream before lunch. The kayaking looked like a lot of fun and as always I am grateful for a glimpse of David (just to make sure he's safe & sound). Sam so sorry you are sidelined from anymore snorkeling. I hope your ear feels better soon. Can't wait for tonight's blog and more pictures. Love and miss you David! Love, Mom
